Course Load Requirements
A student-athlete must be enrolled in a Canadian
Colleges Athletic Association (CCAA) or Canadian Interuniversity
Sport.(CIS) affiliated school and have a minimum of nine (9) credit
hours of recognized course credit at the institution they are representing
(or full-time equivalent as defined by the institution’s registrar)
in the term in which they are competing.
Academic Success Requirements
A student-athlete must successfully complete a minimum of
eighteen (18) credit hours of recognized course credit at the institution
they are representing (or full-time equivalent as defined by the
institution’s registrar) during the academic year in which
they are competing in order to be eligible in a proceeding academic
year. An academic year is defined as the 365-day period following
the first day of fall classes as established by the institutions
academic calendar
In the event a student-athlete does not meet the above academic
success requirements, the student-athlete must, over and above previously
attained academic credits, successfully complete a minimum of eighteen
(18) credit hours of recognized course credit (or full-time equivalent)
at the institution they wish to represent within an academic year
in order to be eligible for a proceeding academic year.
Other Information
The participation by a student-athlete in any squash event
that contributes to the determination of a National University and
College Champion will not be charged with a year of eligibility
from the Canadian Colleges Athletic Association (CCAA) or Canadian
Interuniversity Sport. [Note - reflects change in CCAA regulation
effective 2002 CCAA AGM.]
FISU Eligibility Requirements
FISU has established requirements for participation in a
World University Summer or Winter Games and / or a single-sport
World Championship. These requirements do not have to be adhered
to in the hosting of a Canadian National Championship, however participants
should be made aware of the regulations if the event is being used
as a qualifier for a FISU event.
World University Games Eligibility Rules
for Athletes
All competitors must satisfy the following conditions:
I.1 Be a Canadian citizen.* Citizenship must be authorized by a
valid Canadian passport.
I.2 Be at least 17 and less than 28 years of age as of January 1st
in the year of the event.
I.3 Be an amateur as intended by the International Olympic Committee
and the appropriate International Sports Federation.
I.4 Be a student who is officially registered for and pursuing a
full-time course of study at a post-secondary institution.
* Full-time status must be authorized by a document from the registrar
of the institution.
* Post-secondary institutions include community colleges, professional
schools, technical schools, C.E.G.E.P., and universities, in Canada
or outside of Canada.
or Be a former student who has graduated from a post-secondary institution
as a student in good standing, in the year preceding the event.
* Graduation must be authorized by a document from the registrar
of the institution.
