Quality and consistency of officiating is essential to the game of squash. Proper training and certification helps ensure that officials are knowledgeable and capable of calling a good, fair game.
Squash Canada’s Officials Certification Program allows officials to progress from the initial Club Referee status to National Referee status; a journey which typically takes between six to eight years.
Initial certification is issued after participation in the online certification course or an in-person certification clinic and successful completion of the written exam. The upgrading process involves gaining more match experience and earning positive recommendations and signatures from other officials and recognized assessors. (To learn more about upgrading your certification, visit the Resources section and review “The Upgrading Process”.)
For more information on Certification Clinics and to find the next clinic near you, visit your provincial/territorial squash association website for dates and locations.
