FERON, A. Peter, 85, passed away with the comfort and care of all his children at his side on Friday, September 5th. Born in Halifax on July 13, 1929, he was the son of the late Mona (Ryan) and Austin L. Feron. He was educated at St. Thomas Aquinas School, Saint Mary's College and Dalhousie University.

Peter's drive and dedication to everything he was involved in made him an excellent sportsman and allowed him to master the art of salesmanship. He had a long career as a business owner, Feron Company Limited from 1949 to 1987, Kitchen Design & Planning Company from 1975 to 1988, Amerilok Canada from 1988 to the present. For the past 14 years his primary engagement was with Green Mountain Soapstone Corp. in Vermont where he worked with the Socinski family employing his "old school" sales techniques and came to be known as 'Soapstone Pete'. He thoroughly enjoyed being "even a small part of something big".

Peter performed in an executive capacity in numerous organizations over the years, Ashburn Golf Club Director, President Atlantic Provinces Floor Covering Association, President Nova Scotia Squash Association, President Atlantic Provinces Squash Association, Atlantic Provinces Representative on Canadian Squash Racquet Association, Atlantic Provinces Representative on Canadian Wood Burning Association, President Northwest Arm Club, Atlantic Canada Chapter Chairman Young Presidents' Organization, Board Member Edwards Family Charitable Foundation.

Peter's motto was to remain active always, both in business and in his personal life. He played hockey on teams as a boy and continued to play into his 80's. He played football for St. Mary's College High School, and earned the nickname "Pistol Pete Feron" playing for the Dalhousie Tigers and the Wanderers Team in the Halifax Canadian Football League. He played squash competitively and enjoyed tennis and swimming until very late in his life. Until he was well into his 70's, he was a very quiet "Polar Bear", taking dips in the North West Arm 365 days of the year. Peter belonged to numerous clubs during his lifetime, in particular the BNO Club of which he was the last surviving original member. Peter was still doing business until the week before he passed.

Peter met his wife Solange at Sunday afternoon skating when they were both 16. They married at 21 and raised five children together.

Peter is survived by his children Christina, Halifax, Lucille (Stuart), Gaspereau Valley, Paul, Daniel and Mona, Halifax, sisters Mary Wallace, Chance Harbour, Lucille (Sister of Charity), Halifax, brother Donald (Bud), Halifax, seven grandchildren, Michael, Monica, Emily, Austin, Damien, Terra, and Hannah, four great-grandchildren, Jade, Linnea, Briana, and Ethan, many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Peter was predeceased by his wife Solange (Bissonnette) (2011) and his brother Gordon (2012).

Peter's family are grateful for all the special care he received from the excellent staff at QEII Hospital.

Funeral service will be held at Saint Thomas Aquinas Church (corner of Oxford Street and Jubilee Road) at 11:00am on Thursday, September 11. Reception will follow in the church hall.

    He was our Superman.
