Audio Visuals The Clinic Video
This video forms an integral and required
part of the clinic presentation and is generally shown after
the slide series. The format is a series of clips taken of
the worlds top players in action, and the play being
stopped by the call of let, please. A short pause
then allows the viewer to note his /her decision. The first
part (8 minutes) is dedicated to basic calls and contains
18 decision scenarios. The second part (5 minutes) is dedicated
to advanced decisions and also has 18 decisions. An answer
sheet that explains the rationale for the given decisions
accompanies the video. The format is VHS and the cost is $25.
The Officiating Principles
Video
This video (VHS - 71 minutes) was created,
using the 1998 National Mens Final Match, in order to
do a more rigorous review of the reasons for various decisions,
rather than simply announcing the decision. Included with
the video is a three-page summary of all the scenarios and
the rationale for the announced decision. In some instances,
options are given that allow for different interpretations
by different referees. This would best be used in a mini rules
clinic format, making an excellent, rigorous review of the
Referees Line of Thinking. The cost is $15.
The Australian Officiating
Video
This video (VHS -58 minutes) was produced
by Squash Australia. It explains the basic rules and is a
clear demonstration of how a match should be officiated, especially
from the procedural point of view. It touches on many of the
typical situations that occur during a match, including interference,
player hit by ball, broken ball, injury, and code of conduct
violations. Its a valuable tool for training any new
official. The cost is $25.
